The Turkish hammam is a bathing ritual built around heat, water and touch. You begin in the warm marble chamber where steam opens the pores and softens the skin. A therapist then works over the body with a kese mitt, lifting away dead skin in long sweeping strokes, before covering you in a cloud of warm olive-soap foam and finishing with a full rinse and relaxing massage. It is the deepest clean your skin will get and the classic way to end a long day in the sun.
